Board reviews student and extracurricular handbook updates; new drug-testing rule flagged

On the extracurricular handbook, the superintendent described a new clarification to the drug-testing procedure: "if a student is at school and leaves after he has been called to drug test without presenting a sample, it is going to be a presumed positive," she said, adding coaches and sponsors reviewed the revisions with administration and that presenters on the item included Coby Gaither and Mr. Jimenez.
The board did not take formal action on the handbooks during the information-item review. Administration said any substantive questions could be raised when the items return for formal consideration and that most handbook material is consistent with TASB policy.
