Officials outline phased parking-lot fixes; roof replacement will delay new system installation

In response to a request from legislators about parking difficulties at the county building, Deputy Executive LaValle said the administration is planning a new parking-control system but must sequence installation around an imminent roof-replacement project that will require a six-week laydown area and temporarily close a side entrance.
LaValle said the county will perform a site walk to review signage and logistics and asked to provide monthly updates until the full system is in place. She explained the county is trying to reduce long-term convenience parking by non-employees while preserving employee access and rotating employee parking allocations. Legislators asked for continued monthly reporting to the committee until the system is implemented.
Administration emphasized the project will proceed after the roof work is complete and that communication to building users will be necessary to reduce near-term confusion.
