The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Potter Marsh Watershed Park master plan, a 303-acre proposal linking Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge and Chugach State Park, subject to adding bicycle parking at the Golden View Drive main park entry. Staff said reviewing agencies had no objections and that the project aligns with existing plans provided the bicycle parking is included.
Peter Briggs of Corvus Design, representing the petitioners, and partners from Anchorage Parks and the Great Land Trust described the plan as the result of extended community collaboration and donor support. "We're here to answer questions and to really champion what we think is an amazing addition to the Anchorage park system," Briggs said. Commissioner Radhika Krishna praised the collaborative partner network and the feasible implementation phasing in the plan.
The commission noted the project's strong community support and recommended the petitioner provide implementation updates as projects are completed. The motion to approve the plan subject to staff conditions passed on a voice vote.
