Human Services committee briefs council on contract reversion and domestic-workers ordinance updates

Councilmember Rink reported that the Human Services, Labor & Economic Development Committee heard three items: a briefing from the mayor's office and Human Services Department about plans to return some human-services contracts from the King County Regional Homelessness Authority to City oversight; proposed amendments to the city's domestic-workers ordinance to align with statewide domestic workers' bill of rights; and a briefing on a fair-pricing and transparency ordinance intended to aid small businesses.
Rink outlined committee process steps: the draft legislation will be posted on the introduction and referral calendar, central staff will issue a bill memo and set amendment deadlines, and the committee will take up hearings, amendments and votes after recess. Rink also noted a public hearing with potential votes on Business Improvement Area assessment formula adjustments scheduled at the August 21 committee meeting.
