Council establishes committees and ratifies prior meals-tax vote after closed session
Summary

Councilmember proposed three time-limited committees — finance, bad buildings and personnel policy — to provide focused review and to begin work after the upcoming election. Several members agreed to serve, and the council indicated it would post and staff meetings to begin committee work.
During closed session, the council discussed a charter amendment and the meals tax and returned to ratify the meals-tax motion taken on July 13. Counsel asked the body to "ratify, approve, and confirm" the earlier motion; council members voted in favor and the motion carried. The council also authorized the town manager to execute a pending purchase agreement for a parcel discussed in closed session, citing concern that waiting until the next meeting could compromise bargaining position.
