The Budget Committee spent the largest portion of its April 14 session on proposed salary adjustments developed by the compensation committee. The Town Administrator presented a revised pay schedule that included a 3.3% adjustment based on an employee cost index and recommended premium adjustments for certain public‑safety positions; the administrator also proposed shifting some stipends (for example, registrar of voters duties) into existing payroll pools. "So I requested the select board for something closer to the median," the Town Administrator said while summarizing the compensation panel's recommendations.
Committee members pressed for more data — including the percentage increase relative to last year's budget, the effect of removing a part‑time patrol position and details on PERS and earned‑time liabilities — and concluded they needed more time to review the changes in context of the entire budget. The committee voted unanimously to table the salaries item so the Select Board can examine the proposed schedule and related payroll allocations before the committee finalizes its recommendation.
