The Hooksett Economic Development Advisory Committee on Tuesday finalized an outreach plan to commercial tenants and property owners in the Exit 10 area as it prepares for a likely March public vote on renewing a tax‑increment financing (TIF) arrangement.
Committee members split outreach tasks, reviewed draft flyers and a PowerPoint template and agreed to have materials ready for October so the team can begin in‑person visits to large tenants including Walmart, Bass Pro and Market Basket. Chair (S1) emphasized starting with store managers so information can be taken back to corporate. "It's a 100% gonna move slow," the chair said, urging the committee to begin the work early.
The committee also discussed timing for a public education sequence: a Town 101 session in early November followed by an EDAC/TIF forum to present details and show tangible business interest. Jim Sullivan (S4) said the outreach should include a list of specific businesses and any early commitments to demonstrate real‑world benefits to voters.
The committee framed the outreach as part of a two‑step strategy: prepare public‑facing materials then use them in targeted business meetings that will feed back into voter education. Meeting participants stressed that larger corporations often require local managers to escalate requests to corporate offices, so early contact is intended to give corporate stakeholders time to respond before a March ballot.
