Engineer Jeremy Crew described a full‑depth reconstruction for West Point Road (22‑foot pavement, 2‑foot gravel shoulder) that includes realigning and raising portions of the road, extensive underdrain work to mitigate heaving from ledge, culvert and guardrail installation, and blasting in bedrock where necessary.
Crew said the construction cost estimate for the project is approximately $677,000, noting that significant bedrock and culvert work drive the price. The board moved and seconded a motion to put the reconstruction out to bid; members discussed timing for fall construction (after Labor Day) and agreed to a bid opening on May 26 at 09:30 at the town office. The board also asked staff to include allowances for underdrain and riprap in the bid documents.
