Board adopts three interim superintendent goals focused on trust and transition

The USD 453 Board of Education voted unanimously Aug. 10 to adopt a recommended set of three goals for the district’s interim leader.
Staff presented three priorities designed for an interim period: strengthening trust, visibility and organizational culture; increasing public trust through transparent leadership; and ensuring effective governance and a successful leadership transition. The presenter said these goals were tied to the district strategic plan and included measurable deliverables and timelines.
Board members asked about public access to the materials and whether those draft recommendations would be viewed as prepackaged direction. The presenter said the documents are recommendations and, "certainly, if these are approved by you, those absolutely would be posted." Mister Darling moved to accept the goals and a second was recorded; the motion passed 7-0.
Why it matters: the goals set expectations for the interim leader’s first year and will be used to align evaluation and reporting. Staff said the goals include measurable action items and a timeline for reporting back to the board.
