Board approves consent agenda, budget adjustments and solicits bids for tax anticipation note; accepts tribunal findings leading to personnel actions

The Atlanta Board of Education approved the consent agenda (items 6.1a–6.4a) by voice vote after a motion moved by Board member McDonald and seconded by Board member Brooks.

The superintendent presented two monthly budget adjustments for FY27 and FY26. The FY26 amendment reflected an increase of $1,280,000 related to collections for field trips and summer school; the motion to approve the FY26 monthly budget adjustment was moved by Board member Mitchell and seconded by Board member McDonald and approved.

Separately, the board considered a resolution authorizing the chief financial officer to solicit competitive proposals for a tax anticipation note (TAN) of up to $40,000,000 to address potential cash-flow needs; final terms would return to the board for approval before any issuance. The motion to authorize solicitation was moved and seconded and proceeded with board affirmation.

From executive session, general counsel reported three matters requiring board action. The board voted to accept hearing/tribunal findings and: terminate the employment of Joanne Arceneaux (hearing officer findings dated 06/29/2026); non-renew the employment of Sandra Marangelli (tribunal findings dated 06/23/2026); and non-renew the employment of Deronda Ward (tribunal findings dated 06/29/2026).
