The Verona Common Council approved two land‑use items recommended by the planning commission.
A conditional use permit (resolution 26‑025) was approved to allow an indoor fitness facility between 10,000 and 49,999 square feet at 1162 Laser Street (suites 104–108) with the condition that tenants enter a shared‑parking agreement. "The planning commission voted 4 to 0 to recommend that the common council approve the conditional use permit... for pickleball located at 1162 Laser Street," Alder Swanson said during the motion.
The council also adopted ordinance 26‑1109, a zoning text amendment to update section 13‑1‑105(d) of the city's use matrix to allow places of worship in certain downtown zones. Planning staff said the change will make it easier for existing places of worship to update their facilities where land‑use designations previously created obstacles.
Ending
Both measures passed by voice vote. Planning staff said the change to the use matrix was narrowly tailored to ease updates for extant places of worship and that standard public‑hearing processes had been followed.
