Superintendent Carson Anderson outlined a proposed consolidation that would eliminate two secondary bus routes in the neighborhood north of the high school. "It will eliminate 2 secondary routes. Potentially could impact up to a 140 kids," Anderson said, and he added that many of the impacted students already get to school without bus service because they are secondary-level students.
District leaders said a letter to affected families was prepared and hoped to send it promptly; Anderson emphasized the driver shortage and staffing rationale: consolidating routes reduces the number of drivers needed and allows transportation staff and mechanics to focus on their regular duties instead of covering routes. Anderson cautioned that the district would confirm precise cost savings with the transportation manager, Peggy, before releasing firm dollar figures.
