The Planning & Zoning Commission approved a recommendation to grant a specific‑use permit (SUP) to allow construction equipment rental, sales, and heavy commercial operations at 5804 East US Highway 377, a 3.5‑acre site proposed for Bennett's construction equipment.
Community Development Director Cody Nolan told the commission the site is already plotted and that the requested SUP aligns with the heavy‑commercial zoning. Staff described proposed building placement, landscape plans and standard conditions; city notices and Hood County News publication were completed and, at the time of the meeting, staff reported zero letters in favor or against. After a short public hearing with no speakers, commissioners moved and seconded and the motion carried in favor of recommending approval.
The SUP will advance to subsequent review steps, and any conditions identified by commissioners will be included in the recommendation to council or in permit conditions.
