Oak Ridge corridor study approved to assess Tennessee and Central avenues

The TPO Technical Committee voted to approve a work-program amendment to fund a corridor study on Tennessee and Central avenues in Oak Ridge.
TPO staff said the project would cost $100,000 and use two funding buckets: $50,000 from a complete-streets allocation and $42,500 from standard planning funds (85% federal/state) with a $7,500 local match. A staff representative said the city would manage the study and a consultant would be engaged. "This is kind of an ongoing efforts on the city's part for Jackson Square," Roger Flynn of Oak Ridge said during the presentation.
Staff told the committee the study would be completed over an 8–12 month timeline. The committee moved, seconded and approved the amendment by voice vote. Staff noted available planning and complete-streets funds remain in the TPO bucket for similar requests and invited jurisdictions to propose studies for consideration.
