During public comment on Aug. 10, residents called for greater transparency in the town's meeting materials and more time for verbal exchange at meetings. Charlie Pierce asked that public comment be moved lower on the agenda so speakers can comment after presentations and that the town post a direct link to the meeting agenda and attachments on the website for easier access.
Pierce also said current rules limit residents' ability to ask questions during meetings and urged a return to a format that allows immediate follow-up and discussion: "It's absurd that y'all don't let us talk and ask questions," he said. The chair responded that residents can request agenda additions through the town manager or the website, and staff said they would consider adjustments to the process and agenda posting to improve clarity and public access.
Council welcomed public participation in upcoming UDO open houses and invited residents to submit items for future agendas; officials said any added speaking opportunities would remain subject to the town's time limits for remarks.
