Council flags low parks promotional line, discusses park contract and pool charges

Council members raised concerns that the parks promotional line in the draft 2027 budget appears to be greatly reduced compared with past years, and asked staff to confirm whether the parks board will request additional funding.
"I noticed that we only have, like, 1000 dollars in here. We usually have 10. I know at 1 time, it used to be 15," the Chair said, noting that parks programming and promotions had previously been funded at higher levels. Staff said they had not received finalized requests and that the park board still has time to submit additional items.
Council members and staff also discussed a parks-management contract and recent pool operations billing. Michelle said some contractor charges (cleaning, pool preparation, chemicals and maintenance) were reviewed against the contract and that the town would require a change order for any additional work beyond the agreed contract amount. A park-board meeting was scheduled to finalize next-year plans so staff can incorporate any changes into the budget.
