Whitman County Parks Board approves minutes, hears multiple park updates

The Whitman County Parks & Recreation Board met Aug. 6 and approved the July meeting minutes and the meeting agenda; the approval was recorded as passed 4-0. Chair Cynthia Arbour called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. and the session adjourned at 4:30 p.m., also recorded as passed 4-0.
Board members discussed several operational updates during a brief meeting. Staff reported park maintenance issues at Wawawai, an algae bloom that Public Health says currently does not restrict pond water use, trail concerns at Colfax Trail, and plans to prepare a bid prospectus for asphalt repair of six BCPT trail sections. Superintendent Bryan Yetter reported that a PRA grant supporting the parks comprehensive plan has been submitted and is awaiting further action.
