EMS staff cautioned that some existing equipment exceeds manufacturer support life (one stretcher in New Waverly noted as 14 years old). “If we just get the structure and the 2 loads, it's right at 122,000,” the EMS presenter said, urging the court to consider program alternatives and to bring price comparisons back to the court.
The court approved the MIPS upfit change order (approx. $20,000) and other EMS contingency purchases (garage door replacement and conversion of Frasier units to METS for $20,050). Commissioners asked staff to return with written comparisons for a potential purchase of two ambulances; the court did not finalize ambulance purchases at this session. The county will fund approved items from budgeted EMS funds and contingency as indicated on the record.
