Duane Bordel, chair of the city’s 25th‑anniversary 9/11 memorial committee, told council the public ceremony will be held Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Jaffa Shrine and is free to attend. Bordel said the program marks the 25th observance and will include a plated program and local officials and families.
"This is going to be held this year on September 11 at 7PM at the Jaffa Shrine," Bordel said, adding that Pat White of the Friends and Families of Flight 93 will be the keynote speaker and that Congressman Joyce will be on the dais. Tony DeGaulle, public relations director for the diocesan partners helping organize the event, highlighted musical acts and a "walk of honor" for firefighters, police and emergency workers.
Organizers said the event is open to the public with no admission charge and invited residents to attend and to honor the victims and first responders of 9/11.
