"We can hold 21 kids. And we, right now, I think we have 9 kids," Weber said, explaining that with two working bathrooms the practical licensed capacity is lower and that ongoing maintenance problems have operational consequences.
Weber also described declining state reimbursements and the county's practice of taking out‑of‑state or out‑of‑county placements to offset revenue shortfalls. He asked supervisors to authorize staff to develop CIP cost estimates and to place restroom and camera upgrades among the highest priorities; the board moved to receive the detention budget.
