Ada County approves transfer of surplus e-poll books to another county

The Ada County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution 3218 on Aug. 11 to convey surplus electronic poll books, ticket printers, accessories and carrying cases to another county. Elections staff told the board that because Ada County moved to ballot-on-demand, some equipment was no longer needed and could be shared with a neighboring county.
"Since going to ballot on demand, we no longer have the need for some of this equipment that we had. And so we're being good county partners and sharing with with our fellow county," said the county elections presenter. The board opened a public hearing, received no testimony, closed the hearing and approved the resolution by voice vote. The transfer was described as 10 e-poll books and associated printers and cases; staff characterized the action as intercounty cooperation to reuse surplus equipment.
The approval came after the board adopted routine findings and there was no recorded roll-call tally in the transcript; the motion was moved and seconded and carried on an oral 'aye.' The county did not identify further conditions or timelines for physical transfer in the public record during the meeting. The next step is administrative execution of the conveyance documents authorized by the board.
