County signs contract to buy evacuation-zone software, cites AI and modeling benefits

Jason from emergency management told the board the tool "pre does a bunch of evacuation zones and puts it out on a interface that the public can access on a phone, on their computer" and that the county can run modeling to "see if the plans actually work." He said the software also allows use of AI to help determine better evacuation zones. The transcript lists a regional portion of $55,685 for the product; county staff said Washington County will be the contract holder and expects Homeland Security regional reimbursement on a yearly basis.
Commissioners discussed cost-sharing, potential reimbursement to the county and the five-year term; an attorney review caveat was noted in the resolution. The board voted to approve the contract.
