Commission honors longtime public defender for decades of service

Matt Raza of the Indigenous Defense Commission presented a certificate noting Doug's mentorship and statewide contributions.
Doug accepted the recognition with modest remarks and thanked mentors and staff: "I can't I'm very uncomfortable with this...I appreciate it very much...Gary Pendleton...taught me how to be a defense attorney..." Commissioners presented a county plaque and took photographs. The recognition highlighted his role handling serious cases — including aggravated-murder defense work — and his efforts to train other attorneys through state-level defense-commission work.
