"Currently the law requires a distance of at least 200 feet in a straight line between these spaces and places that sell or distribute alcohol," said Zoe Schweitzer, a freshman at Career Technical High School, urging protection of proximity restrictions and warning that some proposals would reclassify parking lots to circumvent protections.
Students described prevention as an environmental strategy and urged community, schools and leaders to prioritize family-oriented, youth-safe spaces. Commissioners praised the students' participation and approved the proclamation by motion.
