He also recounted a November 2 missing-person search on Sand Mountain in which ground teams located a female who had become separated from her party; thermal imaging from a helicopter aided searchers but ground crews ultimately located her and returned her to family. "They brought her back, returned her to her family, and she was okay after that," Paul said. The report included volunteer and certified man-hour totals and prompted brief commissioner questions about response times and seasonal darkness.
