Sedan council approves coin machine purchase and SOP to restore bulk water station service

The Sedan City Council voted April 7 to replace the bulk water station's coin machine and to adopt a standard operating procedure intended to restore reliable public access to bulk water.
City Clerk Lana Smith told the council that Public Works Superintendent Caleb Ironsyde recommended a coin-machine replacement, and presented a $3,525 quote for a coin-only wall mount from Vernon Manufacturing. "A coin machine replacement at the bulk water station should fix the issues," Smith said. Angela Evans moved to approve the purchase and Wellington Butler seconded; the motion carried unanimously (0 nay, 5 yay).
Separately, Smith presented a bulk water station SOP and said she would add an accounting line to track bulk-water revenues and purchases. "There could be a line item in the system just for the bulk water purchases," Smith said in response to Councilmember Wellington Butler's question about tracking. Angela Evans moved to approve the SOP; Adam Clark seconded and the council approved it unanimously.
The council recorded no opposing votes on either item and did not set additional operational conditions at the meeting. The measures should enable the city to resume and better account for bulk-water sales while staff monitors whether further repairs or adjustments are needed.
