Superintendent Bill Barnes reminded the board that a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Wacousta Commons — emphasizing the preschool and the library space — will take place Wednesday and that the first staff day for the 2026–27 school year is next Tuesday. Denise DuFort thanked staff for summer efforts, referenced new administrative contracts and the student advisory board, and said she is "extremely proud to be a comet." Toni Glasscoe noted the Sept. 10 C3R summit and thanked staff for their work. President Ashley Kuykendoll echoed remarks and said former GLPS superintendent Marcus Davenport has been named superintendent for Oak Park Public Schools.
