LCAS weighs Docupet for online pet licensing; vaccine clinic set for Aug. 29

Nicole Cates, Lyon County Animal Services superintendent, said the department is evaluating online licensing platforms and hopes to launch a system in 2027. "Docupet does have other added benefits – such as – allowing pet owners to create free accounts and for animal control to quickly find lost pets and get them back to their owners quicker," Cates reported, and staff are also assessing costs and funding options.
Cates told the board that Pet Point remains under consideration as an alternative while the county reviews pricing and added features. She also announced a planned vaccine clinic on Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a community service the department is continuing to schedule as part of routine public health work. The board did not vote on procurement or funding at the meeting; Cates said she has discussed the matter with her supervisor and will return with further details for the board to review.
