New board members sworn in; Tanya Craig elected chair

The Kenyon-Wanamingo School District board opened its Jan. 6 regular meeting by swearing in newly elected directors Madeline Lurkin and Bridal Aronson. Chair called the board to order at 6:00 p.m. and introduced the new members: "We are going to seat our new board members, Madeline Lurkin and Bridal Aronson," the chair said.
A board member recited the oath of office on behalf of the new directors: "I swear affirm that I will support the constitution of The United States and of this state and that I will discharge faithfully the duties of the office of school board member of independent school district number 2172," the board member said while reading the oath. The board welcomed the new members and moved on to regular business, approving the agenda by voice vote, 6-0.
During officer elections, Tanya Craig was nominated and confirmed as chair. Marilyn Severson was nominated and confirmed as vice chair and treasurer; following nominations and a voice vote, Deb Pekan was named clerk. The board recorded its routine votes and proceeded to set schedules and committees for the year.
