The Independence School Board formally canvassed the Nov. 5, 2024 school board election and read the abstract of votes cast, the board’s clerk said.
"It is hereby found, determined and declared that the general election of the voters of the District held on 11/05/2024 was in all respects newly and legally called and held," the clerk read, and later recited vote totals: a total of 4,968 voters cast ballots in the district. The clerk named AJ Lindell with 2,201 votes, Madeline Larkin with 2,176 votes, and read additional write-in and Erica Aronson totals.
The resolution stated that AJ Lindell, Madeline Larkin and Erica Aronson received the highest number of votes and are elected to four-year terms beginning the first Monday in January 2025. The clerk also noted the school district clerk is authorized to certify the results to county auditors, as required by statute.
The clerk read the motion to adopt the canvass and a board member seconded it; the board approved the action as part of the meeting’s consent business.
