Commissioners adopt ordinance allowing extra alternates for GRAMA appeals board

On final reading the Weber County Board of Commissioners adopted ordinance 2026-03, which amends the county code to allow the commissioners to appoint additional alternate members to the Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) appeals board. The change gives the board flexibility to name multiple alternates so scheduling conflicts do not prevent appeals panels from convening.
Cortland Erickson outlined the proposal and its purpose: the GRAMA appeals board currently requires one county-employee alternate and one public alternate; the ordinance allows the commissioners to appoint two or more alternates if needed. Commissioners asked no follow-up questions and approved the measure by roll call vote.
