The board adopted ordinance 2026-02 on Feb. 24 to amend clerk-auditor fees and allow over-the-counter marriage officiation on a trial basis. County staff said the change responds to growing demand, noting the court no longer performs officiations; the county will pilot the service for approximately two to three months.
Mona, presenting the ordinance, described the fees on the record: "We are requesting a $10 fee just to provide that additional service, and it would be over the counter," and added that if staff must provide in-house witnesses the county would charge an additional $25. Commissioners voted by roll call; the clerk conducted the roll call and the motion carried.
