Council OKs IPTM pedestrian and bicycle safety subgrant for police overtime

The Port Richey Police Department told council it had been awarded subgrant funding from IPTM to support high‑visibility pedestrian and bicycle enforcement and training. The grant reimburses overtime for participating officers and covers specialized training the department has already sent officers to attend.
"This is basically a grant for up to $5,000 in overtime reimbursement," the interim city manager said in her introduction of the item. The chief added that the department used prior funding fully and planned to request additional funds if other jurisdictions did not use their allocations. Council moved, seconded and approved participation by voice vote.
