Board adopts $27,477,201 tax levy for 2024–25 school year

The Ichabod Crane Central School District Board of Education voted unanimously on Aug. 20 to adopt a 2024–25 tax levy of $27,477,201, inclusive of STAR reimbursement, representing a 2.94% increase over last year’s actual levy. The motion was made by Board President Matthew Nelson and seconded by Kelly Firmbach and carried 7-0 as part of the consent agenda.
The board directed that the tax warrant be executed with tax collection beginning Sept. 3, 2024 and ending Nov. 1, 2024, giving a 60-day effective period. The board set delinquent tax penalties at no penalty for the first 30 days (Sept. 3–Oct. 2) and a 2% penalty for the second 30 days (Oct. 3–Nov. 1). The board also set July 26, 2025 as the last date to accept applications for third-party notification of real property taxes under Chapter 758 of the Laws of 1986.
The levy and warrant instructions were included in the consent agenda motion that contained multiple personnel and policy items; the full slate was approved without recorded dissents. Business Manager Michael Brennan had reviewed levy timing during the business office report earlier in the meeting.
