The Ichabod Crane Central School District Board of Education on Sept. 10 unanimously approved a consent agenda that included personnel appointments and resignations, acceptance of financial reports and authorization of several agreements. The board approved transfers of $108,889 from the A825 (ERS) reserve and $62,000 from the A830 (EBLAR) reserve to the district general fund.
Vice President Elizabeth Phillips read the district mission statement at the start of the meeting: "The Ichabod Crane Central School District is dedicated to preparing students to become contributing members of society in an ever-changing world by valuing diversity; providing a safe environment; and promoting unique talents, a desire for life-long learning, a strong spirit of community, and Rider pride." The meeting minutes show the consent agenda passed 7-0.
Items on the consent agenda included acceptance of the Treasurer's Report for July 2024, the Internal Claims Auditor's report for August 2024, CPSE and CSE recommendations, authorization for signatures on transportation and program agreements (Capital Psychology; Hudson High transportation morning and afternoon agreements; CTE Aviation transportation agreement), and approval of high school and middle school extracurricular activity fund balances ($101,793.73 as of July 31, 2024). The board also approved additions to teaching and non-teaching substitute lists, coach and volunteer coach appointments, and several probationary and long-term substitute appointments.
The personnel section accepted multiple resignations (including Scott Stafiej, French and science teacher, and Jennifer Handy, aide) and appointed staff such as Dell Potts and Sarah Freeman to probationary teaching assistant positions (conditional on state certification and safety clearance). The minutes indicate the superintendent recommended each appointment and the board adopted those recommendations.
The board's approval of transfers from reserves to the general fund was recorded as separate items in the consent motion and carried as part of the single consent vote. The consent agenda motion and subsequent approvals were recorded in the public minutes with votes noted as 7-0.
