Committee moves to require 30-day application deadline, tie school-pack grants to remediation strategy

At the meeting Chair (S2) explained that any new school-pack funding requests must be mapped to the program's remediation strategies and assigned a section number before staff and committee will consider them: "we have to before we can even, even consider an application, it has to be able to fit into these list list of strategies," S2 said.

After discussion about the difficulty of assessing applications presented at the meeting packet, S3 moved to set a deadline of 30 days for applications to be submitted ahead of the meeting; S1 seconded the motion and members indicated support. The motion to require a 30-day advance application period was accepted orally (no formal roll-call tally appears in the transcript).

Committee members asked staff (Charles, April Clark) to help review which remediation-section numbers apply to likely applications and to provide a checklist so applicants and reviewers can match requests to the approved strategy list. S2 said the requirement is intended to give the committee adequate time to assign section numbers and evaluate how potential grants fit program priorities.
