Local hotel owner tells council he’s facing permitting and drainage obstacles

At the start of the citizen-comment period, hotel owner Kush Gandhi said he owns two local hotels and is developing a new Hilton-brand project. Gandhi said he is encountering resistance in the Development Department over a proposed driveway entrance from Gloria Drive and over drainage approvals; he named a city reviewer, Adam Jack, as the staff member he finds obstructive and said engineering reviews have otherwise been completed with the drainage district awaiting city signoff.
Gandhi told the council he has requested written explanations of the objections and wants assistance moving the project forward. "I've asked for it in writing, but I haven't got a response yet on that," Gandhi said. The mayor thanked Gandhi and noted the council would forward concerns to the appropriate department for follow-up under the Texas Open Meetings Act rules for public comment.
