The vice chair explained the statutory process and said Tim Flintsham, chairman of the Forsyth County Republican Party, had notified the board that the District B executive committee recommended Parker.
The honorable Eric Morgan, superior court judge, administered the oath of office. “These are important moments about commitment and service to a community,” Judge Morgan said during brief remarks before the oath. Commissioner Parker responded to each oath with “I will,” formalizing his acceptance of the office.
The board scheduled a reception following the meeting to recognize Parker. No formal objections or alternate appointment candidates were recorded on the public motion to appoint.
