County adopts data-privacy ordinance to comply with Utah law

Andy Jurgensen, the county IT director, presented an ordinance establishing a county data privacy program designed to comply with the Utah Data Privacy Act's requirement that government entities initiate a privacy plan by the statutory deadline.
"The Utah Data Privacy Act requires all government entities to initiate a privacy plan by 12/31/2025," Andy Jurgensen said, explaining the ordinance designates the county's intent to protect personal information, implement training and file required reports with the state. After staff remarks the commission moved, seconded and adopted the ordinance so the county remains compliant with state law.
