Jake, a Washington County Search and Rescue representative, told the commissioners the team handled eight search-and-rescue calls for the month and 99 incidents for the year to date. "We had a total of 8 search and rescue calls for the entire month, so pretty low," he said, and he gave two detailed incident summaries.
The first involved a side-by-side rollover on Sand Mountain on Aug. 31 that left two males with head injuries; one required Life Flight transport. The second was a missing-person call on Smith's Mesa in which family members had found the camper's empty four-wheeler; rescuers located the man near the vehicle after midnight. According to Jake, the subject had been crawling for roughly 14–15 hours before being found and was hoisted to a Life Flight staging area for hospital transport.
Commissioners thanked the Search and Rescue volunteers for their work and asked no substantive follow-ups during the oral report. The presentation concluded with commissioners acknowledging the physical and staffing demands on the volunteer effort and the department's plan to share highlights at future meetings.
