Kirkland schedules Oct. 23 public hearing on 2025 Preliminary Budget; director outlines $700,000 in capital projects

On Oct. 9 the Town of Kirkland Board voted unanimously to set a public hearing for the 2025 Preliminary Budget on Oct. 23, 2024.
Budget Director Anthony Arcuri briefed the board on preliminary priorities. "There will be no sales tax increase for 2025," he said, and reported that sales tax and investment revenues continue to grow. Arcuri listed planned allocations including $700,000 for capital projects, $50,000 for park improvements and $150,000 for a salt barn. He also advised board members to contact his office with questions about the budget.
Arcuri told the board the town will not purchase police cars in the coming year and is monitoring the availability of Volvo snow-plow units; he said the manufacturer's requirement to sell a number of electric units before producing diesel models is affecting delivery timing and that electric plows do not meet the town's current needs. The board will consider timing for arena parking-lot work once NYS sales tax receipts are received.
