Cole County commissioners approved and signed a clinical training agreement with the Johnson County Ambulance District to allow a paramedic student to complete clinical time in the county.
The county chief described the arrangement: “There is no cost. It basically says that, they're covered under their liability, and we will just furnish them the training opportunity.” The chief added the program is a recruiting opportunity and presents no downside to the county. Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved to approve the agreement and the motion was seconded and carried.
The agreement was described as cost-neutral: the ambulance district retains liability and the county provides training and exposure for paramedic students who might later seek employment in the jurisdiction.
