Board hears clean audit, approves corrective action steps and budget transfers

Amy Pedrick of West & Company "gave a clean audit report with the highest opinion given by the auditors," the board minutes say. Business Manager Michael Brennan summarized next steps tied to the Corrective Action Plan and provided an update on tax collection. The board accepted the audited financial statements and the corrective-action plan as part of the consent agenda.
The board also received the High School and Middle School Extraclass Activity Fund balances, recorded as $102,216.42 as of Aug. 31, 2024. As part of consent-agenda approvals the superintendent was authorized to execute a series of budget transfers. The transfers listed in board materials included moves such as $130,000 to Oc Ed, $200,000 to Neric, $52,000 to Staff Development, $29,000 to Regular Education, $209,000 to Integration, $211,000 to Special Education, and $409,000 to Computer Instruction. The board approved those transfers under the motion presented in the consent package.
The board discussed the audit findings during the Audit Committee report and accepted the external and internal auditors' positive findings from the Oct. 1 Audit Committee meeting. No separate opposing votes or conditions were recorded.
