Cole County commissioners voted to accept a $15,000 award from the Missouri Office of State Courts Administration to support participants in the county’s domestic relations docket.
A presenter summarized the award and its purpose: “So we got $15,000 approved to help offset cost for defendants who have been sentenced as part of the probation to do the domestic violence docket,” they said, explaining the funds will help pay assessment costs and reduce barriers to enrolling in batterers intervention programs but will not cover 100 percent of those costs. The presenter added that the county will spend only the amount granted; when the money runs out defendants will be responsible for remaining costs.
Commissioner (Speaker 3) moved to accept the award on behalf of the county and the motion was seconded by the chair; the ayes carried. The county also placed a related budget adjustment on first reading to be held for the required 10-day notice period.
