Fremont City Schools outlined a staggered schedule for the first week of classes and urged families to monitor route and schedule updates. The agency official said, "On Monday, August 31, elementary students in grades 1 through 5 whose last name starts with a through l will attend school." The official added that only grade 6 at Fremont Middle School and only grade 9 at Ross High School will attend that day.
The district said the staggered plan continues through the week to ease transitions. "On Tuesday, September 1, elementary students in grades 1 through 5, whose last name starts with an m to z, will attend school along with kindergarten students whose last name begins with a through l," the official said. Kindergarten students whose last names begin with m through z will begin on Wednesday, September 2, and the district expects full attendance for all grades K–12 on Thursday, September 3. The district encouraged families to consult the online calendar and contact schools with questions.
The message noted open-house times for kindergarten and emphasized that staggered openings are intended to help students acclimate in smaller, more inviting settings.
