Trappe council grants Town Administrator hiring authority, retains termination powers
Summary
The council voted 4–1 to amend the Town Administrator's job description to give the administrator authority to hire all employees except the administrator and the Water/Wastewater Superintendent; the council retained termination authority for all positions.
President Schmidt asked the council to consider amending the Town Administrator's job description to expand hiring authority. After discussion, Commissioner Newnam moved to give the Administrator authority to hire all employees except for the Administrator position and the Water/Wastewater Superintendent, while the council would retain termination authority for all positions. Commissioner Chase seconded; the motion passed 4–1 with Commissioner Potter opposed.
The council recorded the vote and then recessed into an executive session to discuss a personnel matter. The meeting was reopened and adjourned at 7:48 p.m.
