Council approves Lakeside sludge removal application; developer to bear costs

James Cook of Rauch explained the Lakeside plant requires sludge removal every 6–8 months to Easton Utilities and that the Town’s current permit allows hauling from Easton Utilities to Trappe but not the reverse. Cook said a permit application has been submitted to allow the Lakeside sludge to be hauled to Easton and that the discharge permit must be in both the Town and Trappe East's names.
Commissioner Jeremy Newnam moved to approve the sludge removal application, Commissioner Michael Sullivan seconded the motion, and the Council voted unanimously to approve it. Attorney Lyndsey Ryan noted the developer will be financially responsible for any costs associated with the haul and permit requirements.
