Town auditor urges Trappe to consider water and sewer rate increases after audit

Roy Geiser of audit firm UHY, LLP presented the Town’s fiscal year 2023–24 audit and said the General Fund is "in good standings," but warned the Enterprise (water and sewer) budget is operating in the negative and will strain the Town as major infrastructure projects move forward. Geiser urged the Council to consider increasing water and sewer rates to avoid shortfalls as the Town takes on additional debt.
Town Administrator Erin Braband filed the audit with the meeting records and provided the Council with the General Fund and Enterprise Fund budgets. Council members did not take immediate action on rate changes at the March 5 meeting; the audit presentation was entered into the record and flagged for future budget planning discussions.
