EMT urges review of fire district response boundaries; trails group plans Oct. 1 opening
Summary
An EMT with the Clark Mills Fire Department asked the Town to help address response boundaries between Clark Mills and Clinton fire districts, and a trails representative reported trail repairs and requested an October 1 opening ceremony and potential sidewalk work on Franklin Avenue.
During the public comment portion of the Sept. 9 meeting, Chris Abbe, an EMT with the Clark Mills Fire Department, asked the Town’s assistance in repairing fire districts and raised concerns that Clark Mills and Clinton fire departments have no formal relationship; he suggested calling both districts or adjusting district lines so the closest district responds. Supervisor Robert J. Meelan responded that the Town does not have jurisdiction over Clark Mills and Deansboro fire districts because they are run by their respective commissions.
Also speaking, Chip Bassett reported the Highway Department completed Phase 1 trail work from Dugway to Route 12B, noted drainage repairs, said “The Trails want to hold an opening ceremony on October 1st,” and inquired about potential sidewalk work, which Supervisor Meelan said would most likely be on Franklin Avenue. The board recorded the comments with no formal actions taken at the meeting.
