Washington County Assessor Debbie Moxley-Potter reported to commissioners Aug. 3 that deputies performed extensive evacuations during the Tartar Fire response and that county responders saved most properties in threatened areas. She told the Board she observed two homes lost at the end of Price Road, one home lost on Highway 95 and one shed lost; she praised deputies for their efforts in protecting Curlew Hills and nearby areas.
Moxley-Potter also requested county consideration of installing automatic door openers for the county building, presenting two vendor quotes: a local Ontario vendor at $10,697.00 and a Boise vendor at $10,569.89. Commissioners questioned the cost and suggested alternatives such as staffing the door or a doorbell, but the assessor said staffing was not feasible and asked the board to consider the quotes and next steps.
The Board did not take a final funding vote at the meeting and directed staff to continue discussions on procurement options and possible alternatives to the quotes provided.
